Open Access
Climate University materials are open and free to study anytime and anywhere. You can study the open-access materials free of charge and at your own pace, by accessing the course area on our website.
Earning study credits (ECTS)
If you wish to get study points (ECTS) you must register for a course organized by a Higher Education Institution (HEI). Climate University courses are currently provided by several HEIs in Finland and also internationally. You can find the course codes under each course listed on our website. Most courses are also available via open university.
You can plan your studies by consulting the list of open-registration courses. An updated list is published in the Climate University blog at the beginning of the Autumn and Spring terms.
For students in partner HEI
Please check first if your HEI is one of the network partners. Partner HEIs have a cross-study agreement that allows students to take courses from other partnering HEIs for free. Registration to the cross-studies is offered by the organizing institution. Please note that you need to transfer the credits (ECTS) to your home institution by yourself.
For other students
Students of other HEIs or continuous learning can take the courses via open universities. Links to active registrations are gathered the CU blog.
For international students
Currently, open universities in Finland can only recognize students with Finnish ID or who can come to Finland to be identified. We are working on different collaboration methods to solve the issue. Meanwhile, you are welcome to study the open access materials at your own pace.
For teachers
Climate University materials are free to use in your teaching. If you want to order a course area for your course or join the Climate University teacher network, please leave a message here. Our network supports teachers by organizing teacher meetings to share the best practices from the courses and to discuss the future development steps.
