In this course you will learn the basics of circular economy, what it is, and why it is needed given the global challenges of sustainability. The course is structured around the strong link of circular economy to systems thinking and shared expertise. These perspectives are covered under four major areas: sustainable food systems, forestry-related cycles, technical cycles, and mobility and the sharing economy.
Learning goals:
- To develop a general understanding of the circular economy model and its basic principles
- To understand the problematic of the current consumption patterns, the over exploitation of nature and how circular economy can help solving these problems
- To become familiar with approaches that could promote the circular economy
- To create a vision of practical activities that could be undertaken by different sectors to promote the circular economy
